Kid at heart

What does it mean to be a child at heart?

Being a child at heart is not a question of age, but more so a question of spirit. You can be a child by enjoying small things and being happy with almost anything. Don't mistake "being a child at heart" for immaturity. As adults, we learn to become more mature and responsible individuals. Ironically, I believe one of the biggest signs of maturity is choosing to be a child at heart.

In my opinion, a person who is a child at heart never loses their ability to use their imagination and play make-believe, interact with children on the child's level, and/or enjoy playing kids' games with kids. It's the ability to continue long into adulthood getting that sparkle in their eyes when doing these activities that shows me if someone is truly a child at heart.

What a great thing it is to be young at heart. To be so blessed means, that although you are an adult, you still retain the capacity for child-like delight in many things. You have not lost your capacity to be excited by little things, like the time a butterfly landed on your arm, or the gentle, protective feeling you get when a kitten jumps into your lap. Rainbows are beautiful, waterfalls are mesmerizing, and it is exciting to get a call from an old friend. You still talk baby talk to all puppies.

The opposite of “young at heart” is to be “jaded.” Don’t become jaded; it’s b

It means to remain young inside. You keep a sense of wonder in the world. You retain the purity of the soul! You want to make wishes on a four-leaf clover. You want to skip in the sunlight. You want to handle a breakup by twirling around in circles and saying I divorce thee. Being a child at heart is a state of being!🙋🙅🙆🙍

Children are happy with the smallest of things: attention, swinging high on the swing set, and every toy they have.

If an adult is a child at heart, they’re happy with the simplest treasures of childhood. I love feeding the ducks in the park. I could do that 24/7 365.

To be a child at heart means that your actions and personality embody that of a child.

Some characteristics include but are not limited to being…

Kind
Carefree
Innocent
Playful
Silly
Friendly
Thoughtful
Caring
Loving
Giving
Creative
Curious
Selfless
Immature
Childish
The Apostle Paul admonishes us to “put away childish things,” and our parents and siblings probably told us to “grow up.” but there are many reasons that keeping a child’s sense of awe and wonder is helpful and healthful during stressful times.

Tips for reducing stress online, read like a child’s lifestyle:

Get more sleep, take naps

Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol, and breathe deeply

Work your body—walk, run, climb, jump. hop, skip—take the long way home…

Chat with people more often

Learn to say “no,”

Keep a regular schedule

Eat often (keeps blood sugar levels more constant)

Drink plenty of fluids

I have always refused to grow up, but not in an immature way. To be child-like as an adult is to still have an interest in learning new things, be excited by simple things, and know when to act your age. Kindness is taught and many children can be kind, but ‘children are cruel’ is a well-known phrase. Before age 18, the part of a child’s brain that deals with the consequences of their actions is not fully developed, so they will tend towards acting without thinking. To be a child at heart makes one more relaxed and grateful for the little things.

The look of sheer glee on a toddler chasing pigeons, the look of enchantment on a 3 yo face at the first new sight of pretty lights, the uninhibited excitement of a 5 yo during a movie, the ceaseless laughing of a 3 yo on a boat ride, the overall joy and excitement of a 6 yo at a new amusement park, the child’s fascination looking an animatronic dinosaur at the museum. If you can feel these things as an adult (35 to 50?) you are a child at heart.

Two things come to mind when I hear the phrase. One is generous towards my fellow humanity, the other is bitter/cynical.

The Generous version: Child at heart means approaching life, and people, with open trust and compassion. Optimism rules one's daily interaction and evaluation.

The Bit/cyn version: Untrusting, ready to flinch and/or hide one's head under the bed-covers at the slightest hint of approaching monsters/adversity.

I believe this is a major compliment to an adult. Youngsters look for adventure and novelty with untold enthusiasm. They look forward to all the new things they may experience and enjoy. They do this without prejudice and mostly want to learn. Oh, to be that open-minded again. It is a gift!

It means you have an inner character that is similar to a child's. You have a great sense of wonder, curiosity, playfulness, easy joy, and trust - just like a child.

It means you never grow old.

That one is still able to enjoy the simple joys of childhood such as carnival rides, flying a kite, and playing with toys or pets.

That you are somewhat carefree, enjoy childish things, like playing and stuff.

I have a heart that shows forgiveness a heart that loves without boundaries. It's laughing and not being concerned about who sees you. It's making friends and not knowing or being concerned about color or race. It's just happiness you could never have imagined. It's like enjoying an ice - cream. It's just pure innocence and affection nothing else……..
