However, being a Christian in secret from your parents may also be sinful in some situations, such as when you are ashamed of your faith when you are disobeying God’s commands, or when you are hiding your sins from your parents. In such cases, you may need to confess your faith openly, while still respecting your parents and seeking their approval.

The Bible tells us to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12), but it also tells us to obey God rather than men
