About the fire
About a million years ago, early humans are believed to first have controlled fire.
Having discovered and made a fire, humans acquired a reliable source of warmth, light, and energy.
Humans could now cook food, see in the night, and be warm when it was cold outside.
Humans could now also experiment with their new power, putting different substances into the fire and mixing them under the influence of fire, thus discovering chemistry.
Humans then discovered that fire created lots of energy. Warm up the water and you get steam. You could use that to move objects. Soon, the steam engine was born.
From there on, the milestones continue: Electricity, Use of fossil fuels, The Automobile, Telecommunication, and The Internet.
Everything humans achieved can be traced back to that one time an early human created a flame for the first time.
Controlled fire is responsible for the formation of a modern human society.
