My favorite restaurant is situated by the ocean. We sit by a large window watching the waves rolling in, then splashing up at us. The ocean is cold, dark, and deep and the waves roll in quickly. Mesmerized, we are in awe of the scenery.
The waiter brings two large glasses of robust, buttery, dry sauvignon balnc and we sip on it waiting to order our meals. The restaurant features scrumptious seafood, and I order monkfish medallions this time, pan sautéed and tender, in a lemon, butter, wine sauce with capers. It’s accompanied by delicate, roasted baby potatoes, and plenty of broccolini.
The restaurant is roomy and dark with stained oak trim and finely carved wooden wrap-around bar to one side, the seating on the other side is spaced so that we don’t hear other’s conversations, and we can talk freely. The lighting is dim, but we can still see our food, appreciatively devouring it with our eyes, before the first salivating mouth bite.
The conversation is lively and interesting. Often we talk about the sea, the islands in the distance, sialboats, and lighthouses. We smile and looking into each other's eyes. We’re glad that we picked this place: the view | the food | the ambiance | is breathtaking. Let’s have another pour of wine.
We finish dining with dark roast coffee that is smooth, and delicious without the bitterness that some coffees exude. Desert is a single piece of dark, rich chocolaty cake with bittersweet chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries piped with whip cream. We decide to split it, devouring the cake in small bites making it lasts seemingly forever.view more
