Ogun State Government Intervenes as Father of Triplets Flees Hospital
The Ogun State Government has swiftly intervened to provide comprehensive support for a 19-year-old mother, Temilola Adediran, who delivered triplets at Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta, after the father of the children reportedly absconded from the facility due to financial concerns. The state government, through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has settled all outstanding medical bills and pledged long-term assistance to the new mother and her newborns.
The incident, which garnered public attention, saw the father of the triplets fleeing the hospital shortly after the delivery, leaving the young mother, who was reportedly preparing for her Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) when she became pregnant, to shoulder the unexpected financial and emotional burden. Temilola Adediran delivered the triplets naturally, a remarkable feat that has now been overshadowed by the circumstances of their birth.
Responding to a public outcry for support, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, led a delegation from the ministry, including the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Jumoke Adewole, to the hospital on Thursday. During the visit, the Commissioner extended a cash gift to the newborns and fully offset the medical bills incurred. In a heartwarming gesture, other mothers in the maternity ward also received thoughtful gifts and kind gestures from the state delegation.
